The Results
Through the combination of set, narrative content, and audience participation we created a romantic story making it both interactive and personal for everyone who participated through SNS “love letters” from our audience.
More than 100,000 people attended the festival and our hastag #pixelslettredamour ranked 4th in the country of France on the day of the festival opening.
This piece explores expressions of love and marriage through a narrative projection of film, typography and audience participation.
The piece was a collaboration between Pico, Observatory London, and Windy Lo, an award winning wedding gown designer in a piece that bridges Asia and Europe.
Lille Video Mapping Festival 2019
Projected on the historic Hotel L’Hermitage Gantois’ centre chapel, we add a layer of context and beauty, incorporating an icon of the local environment into the piece. The story is about the creation of a wedding gown, inspired by a love letter, which then becomes an icon of love. We use the fabrics and translucency to show that love happens in layers and present a beautiful projection matching the historic architecture, which was made available for the first time to the festival at our request.
An additional layer of both curated and audience generated “love letters” that were enabled via social media, allowed our audience to express their love and have their love letter incorporated into the projection making the art digitally interactive in a collaborative way.
